How to Complete the Book Quest in "Baldur's Gate 2"

Each of the unique characters who will join your group during the course of the PC role-playing game "Baldur's Gate 2" will have their own special side-quest. You can complete these side-quests to earn extra experience points and gold. If you convince the dwarf named Korgan to join your party, he will ask you to help him track down an ancient and mysterious book that can be sold for a hefty sum of gold. You can find the book by starting your search underneath the graveyard of the city of Athkatla.

Instructions

1. 

   Bust out of the dungeon where the party starts the game and escape into the city of Athkatla. Travel to the Slums District and go inside the building marked on your map as the Copper Coronet Tavern.

2. 

   Approach the dwarf drinking at the large center table and ask him to join your party of adventurers. Agree to help him find a valuable and rare magical book that he is searching for.

3. 

   Leave the Slums District and walk over to the city's graveyard. Head over to the southwest end of the area and go down the set of stairs in the open crypt.

4. 

   Walk to the end of the passageway to find that the coffin where the book is supposed to be found. The coffin has already been opened and the book is missing. Talk to Korgan. He will tell you where to go to chase after the tomb raiders who beat you to the punch.

5. 

   Go back up the stairs and then leave the graveyard. Travel over to the area called the Temple District and go inside the large house to the right of Temple of Lathander. Search the house to find that the grave robbers are again one step ahead of you. Leave the Temple District and return to the Copper Coronet Tavern in the Slums District.

6. 

   Use the outside staircase to go onto the roof of the tavern. Kill the group of grave robbers who will attack you and then search their leader's body to find the book and finish the quest.

Tips & Warnings

• Take the book to any merchant that buys books and sell it for several thousand gold after you have completed the quest.

• There are many giant spiders who will attack your party underneath the graveyard. Keep several antidote potions in your inventory as the spiders will frequently poison your party members.
