Step 1
Use household-strength double-sided masking tape for placing things temporarily. When you're working on a project such as a paper collage, you want the freedom to arrange and rearrange the elements before you attach them permanently. You can use single-sided tape, but why bother rolling it into curls when double-sided is so easy?

Step 2
Enjoy the convenience of double-sided tape for other paper projects, including handmade greeting cards and science fair posters. It looks great and holds well, but if you have to move something, you can take it off and reattach the tape easily.

Step 3
Look for heavier-duty double-sided tape for projects other than crafts. Use foam tape to mount things such as hooks and mirrors; try tape with a rubber adhesive--or better yet, an acrylic adhesive--for more durability. Need to hold something still--such as a drop cloth? Use double-sided duct tape to keep it in place.
