Things You'll Need:
- Sturdy webbed-fabric belt Fabric paint in yellow, gold or black Cardboard or poster board Construction paper in yellow or black Black felt tip marker or silver metallic marker Hot glue and glue gun or Velcro adhesive strips Toy bat gadgets
-
Step 1
Gather the materials and supplies. A simple carpenter's tool belt from your local hardware store will work well.
-
Step 2
Paint the tool belt yellow, gold or black, using fabric paint. (The color of the Batman utility belt varies from one depiction to another. Early comic book Batman costumes typically feature a yellow utility belt, but later Batman costumes feature black or gold utility belts.)
-
Step 3
Cut out an oval shape from a piece of cardboard or poster board to make the signature Batman buckle. (The cutout should be large enough to cover the existing belt buckle.)
-
Step 4
Draw the signature Batman logo on yellow construction paper, using a black felt tip marker. Cut the paper into the same oval shape as the belt buckle and glue the pieces together. If you want to make an all-black belt buckle, use black construction paper and a silver metallic marker instead.
-
Step 5
Attach the Batman belt buckle to the tool belt, using either hot glue or Velcro adhesive strips.
-
Step 6
Accessorize your belt with toy bat gadgets. Toy bat gadgets are widely available online and in toy stores. These can be sewn on, glued on or attached with Velcro. Using Velcro allows you or your child to remove and replace the gadgets as necessary.
