Snowboarding is a relatively new sport. However, it has gained much attention, being included as an Olympic event in the 2004 Winter Olympics. Millions of people enjoy snowboarding throughout numerous ski resorts worldwide. However, the main problem that prevents many people from snowboarding is the price of a snowboard. If you would rather not purchase one, then building your very own snowboard is very possible.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4-foot by 8-foot 1/16-inch sheet of wood Sandpaper Old pair of boots 8 screws at least 2 inches in length Screwdriver Wood polishing solution
  1. Step 1

Cut the ends of the wood into smooth round shapes.

  2. Step 2

Sand the board to make as smooth of a surface as possible.

  3. Step 3

Place the boots about a foot apart on the snowboard. If you are dominant with your left leg, then face the boots pointing towards the left. If you are right dominant, then face the boots towards the right.

  4. Step 4

Screw each boot to the board with four screws per boot. Place the screw in the boot, and screw through the sole of the boot until it goes through the wood. A screw should be placed around the top-right, top-left, bottom-right and bottom-left of the boot.

  5. Step 5

Polish the snowboard with the solution you have acquired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using used snowboard pieces, such as boots, will make the board more effective. Maple or ash are the best wood types to use for creating snowboards. However, any sturdy wood will suffice.
  • Be cautious not to screw the screws too tightly, for this could crack the board.
