Plastic canvas is a material that comes in plastic sheets that have been pressed with a series of holes. Crafters use the material to create projects to decorate by weaving yarn or string through the holes to make designs. Working with plastic canvas is not all that difficult. You should be able to make a tissue box topper rather easily if you have the time and the correct supplies.

Things You'll Need

  • One large plastic canvas
  • Design pattern
  • Scissors
  • Yarn or thick string
  • #16 Tapestry needle

      Cut out pieces of plastic canvas with sharp scissors to make the box cover.

      Cut the the piece for the top of the box 63 holes by 33 holes. Cut two long side pieces 63 holes by 23 holes and cut two short side pieces 33 holes by 23 holes.

      Find a patten that you are interested in using and place it on the canvas. Trace the shapes onto the canvas.

      Sew the outlines of your pattern using the tapestry needle and thread, or use string and a series of continental stitches. Choose a color to fill in the designs and use a long stitch or slanted Gobelin stitch to apply the thread to the plastic canvas.
