Use these easy, quick tips to pick up 5 tenths at the dragstrip in your 5.0 mustang. Without breaking the bank.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5.0 ford mustang
  1. Step 1

Remove the front sway bar. This will take just a few minutes and will remove weight off the front of the car, making your 5.0 mustang faster.

  2. Step 2

Pump up the front tires to 45 psi. This will work on stock or skinny front tires and will decrease your rolling resistance making your car quicker.

  3. Step 3

Remove the front passenger seat and anything else in the car that you don't need. Anything to save weight will make you that much faster.

  4. Step 4

Remove the air silencer. The air silencer is put in at the factory to quiet down the incoming air into the intake. It is actually a big piece of plastic that you don't need. Located in the fender well it simply unbolts in a few minutes....throw it away.

  5. Step 5

Ice down your intake manifold. Before you go down the track put ice right on top of your intake manifold and let it chill, just make sure that no water is dripping under your car. The colder the intake the faster you will run.

  6. Step 6

Increase the timing from the factory 10 degrees to around 14 to 16 degrees. You may just find ten horsepower here, If you start pinging or notice detonation then back off a few degrees.
