Step 1
The first thing we need to do is keep things in perspective. No matter what is going on, things could always be worse. You are reading this how-to, so you either have a computer or have access to one. That puts you ahead of 95% of the population of the world. You have healthy clean drinking water, that puts you above about 80% of the world's population. We need to look at all the things we have, the blessings, and the other "stuff" will not be as important.

Step 2
We need to remember that we live in a country with a tremendous amount of freedoms that we often take for granted. We are free to worship however we want, whenever we want without persecution. We are not restricted by a caste system where we can only work at certain jobs. The potential and possibilities where we live are endless if we think of what we CAN do and not what we can NOT do.

Step 3
All throughout history there are evident cycles. Cycles in government, in countries, in wealth, in jobs, in the housing market. What goes down will inevitably come back up. Yes, the stock market is down a little bit, but it always rebounds. The housing market has gone down over the last few months, but it too always goes back up. If you are not planning on moving in the next year, then the housing market situation is really not something you need to worry about. We need to look at things in the long term. Investments, housing all big money investments have upturns and downturns, you just have to be in things for the long haul and you will come out ahead in the end.

Step 4
It is all about perspective. We all have a choice in the way we look at the world around us. We can let the driver who cut us off make us angry, or the person in the express lane at the grocery store with way more than 10 items. But, we do not have to give in to those angry feelings and thoughts. How often has someone honked at you for going too slow or daydreaming at a light. How has it made you feel? Maybe you had a lot going on at the time and needed someone to give you a break. We can worry about the housing situation, and fret about investments. But, if we worry and fret or get angry and frustrated, what are we really accomplishing? Those feelings and fears will take us over if we allow them. You can choose to be happy. I hope you do!
