How to Get the Smell Out of Your Towels
Smelly towels are caused by anything from musty odor to age. When taking a shower, the last thing you want to do is dry off with a smelly towel that makes you feel dirty. When your regular laundry detergent is not enough to deodorize the towels, use something a bit stronger that is still safe for the towels, but boosts the deodorizing power of your wash cycle. Turn on your washing machine with a hot water cycle and pour in the regular amount of laundry detergent. Use the largest load size, so the towels have plenty of room to move around during the wash.

Pour 1 qt. white vinegar into the washing machine, as this is your main deodorizing ingredient.

Place the towels into the washer and let the wash cycle complete.

Dry your towels as normal. Dry them immediately after the wash cycle finishes, as you do not want the towels to sit in the washer damp for a long period. This leads to the odor development and musty smell.
