Step 1
When you head to the grocer store to pick up your food items, remember to take your reusable canvas shopping bags to reduce the amount of paper and plastic waste.
-
Step 2
Try to buy organic produce and meats. As we all know, this means no pesticides, insecticides or hormones. (We don't need to be eating that stuff anyway, right?) Try to purchase local produce, support your local economy as much as possible.
-
Step 3
Try to buy items with the least amount of packaging. Also, look for recycled packaging or packaging that can be recycled.
-
Step 4
Don't use disposable plates or utensils. Have a REAL sit down Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, it translates to a lot of clean up, but it also prevents a LOT of waste.
-
Step 5
Store Thanksgiving leftovers in reusable containers. Throw your scraps to your compost pile. Give excess leftovers friends and families. Try not to waste too much food.
-
Step 6
When traveling to visit family for Thanksgiving, carpool as much as possible to conserve our natural resources. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year.
