Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Carving knife
  • Carving fork
  • Cutting board
  • Cooked Turkey
  • Platter
  1. Step 1

To start off you need to first remove the legs. Begin on one side and pull the leg away from the body of the turkey. Then with the tip of your carving knife locate the joint which sets right above the thigh and connects the thigh to the rest of the turkey and make a clean cut. This should not be a difficult cut if you are cutting in the proper place. –Repeat for other side.

  2. Step 2

Using the same method as in step 1 you need to separate the thigh from the leg. Locate the joint and make a clean cut separating the two pieces. – Repeat for other side.

  3. Step 3

Once you remove the leg from the thigh you can start carving the meat from the leg.- To accomplish this hold the leg upright {meaty side resting on your cutting surface} and utilizing your carving knife carve the meat at a slight angle in a downward motion. - Repeat for other leg.

  4. Step 4

Remove the wings- follow the same method as was used above to remove the legs.

  5. Step 5

At last, you can start carving the rest of your Thanksgiving turkey. To carve you must first steady your turkey on your cutting surface using your carving fork and then with your knife begin carving the turkey breast in angled-downward slices. Make sure your pieces are being evenly sliced.

  6. Step 6

Lastly, place your slices neatly on a serving platter and serve. Now that you know how to carve your Turkey you will be able to put together a more elegant and satisfying turkey presentation for your friends and family.

on 11/6/2008 LOL. In my family, no one ever wants to carve the turkey for fear of butchering it up. Maybe this year will be different. Thanks for the advice!
