Have you ever brushed your teeth and had a bristle catch a spot between a tooth and your gumline causing a sore spot? If so, this can be a nuisance for several days. Here are some steps to speed recovery.

1
First, if the gum area by a particular tooth is sore, try to brush gently. If however, by the next morning it's still as tender, try the following.
-
2
Buy a new adult toothbrush (soft), throwing out your old toothbrush that caused the problem in the first place, as well as a baby or toddler toothbrush (soft).
-
-
3
Use the new adult toothbrush to brush the other areas in your mouth, and use the baby toothbrush just to brush that specific tooth and gum area that is sore if you can (if it doesn't bother you too much). If brushing it is just too painful, try avoiding that particular area for a day or two and be sure to do the next step.
-
4
Rinse with Scope or a similar mouthwash to try and kill as much germs in your mouth as possible. This will help that area heal. Rinse as many times as allowable per day (read directions on bottle).

Tips & Warnings
If the condition gets worse, see your dentist immediately.
If the patient is a child, do NOT follow these directions as the child may swallow the mouthwash. See your pediatric dentist or family doctor instead.
