How to Make Classy Wedding Decorations from Beer Bottles
Beer bottles can be a classy part of your wedding, even if you have champagne tastes. If your color scheme includes shades of deep brown or green, beer bottles in those shades make for cheap decorations. The shape and size of beer bottles also means they're ideal bud vases. Before using these bottles for any decor projects, soak them in soapy water until the labels are soft enough to scrape off.
Things You'll Need

- Hot glue gun
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Funnel
- Flowers

Bud Vases
-
1
Apply a dot of hot glue to the bottom of a bottle. Press the end of a long length of ribbon to the glue.
-
2
Wrap the ribbon around the entire bottle. Cut off the ribbon and use another dot of hot glue to glue it down around the opening of the bottle.
-
-
3
Use a funnel to pour a few inches of water into each bottle just before the wedding. The funnel will keep water from splashing onto the ribbon. Place a single fresh-cut flower in each bottle and arrange the bottles throughout the reception.

4
Place empty beer bottles inside a paper bag. Use a hammer or mallet to carefully tap the bottles until they're broken into small pieces.
-
5
Glue the pieces to a plain terracotta pot. Place the pieces as closely together as possible. If there are any gaps, break pieces into even smaller pieces and glue them into the holes. Let the glue dry overnight.
-
6
Mix up a batch of grout according to the package's instructions. While wearing gloves, spread the grout across the entire pot using a wooden craft stick. Use the stick and your fingers to push the grout into the cracks.
-
7
Use a damp rag to wipe away the grout from the glass pieces. Be careful not to disturb the grout that's in the cracks. Let the grout dry overnight.
-
8
Plant flowers or herbs in the pots. Use them as centerpieces for reception tables.

Tips & Warnings
Another way to turn bottles into vases is to paint them. Use a foam brush to cover the bottles with enamel paint.
If you want to keep and use the flower pots after the wedding is over, apply a layer of grout sealant to them. This will protect the pots from mildew and water damage.
