Step 1
Avoid politics.
Even though the presidential elections are a current topic right now, I would suggest avoiding talking about politics. The last thing you want is to get in a fight with someone in your family over policies, presidents, etc. It could cause a great family Thanksgiving to go from good to bad. -
Step 2
Food.
Make sure there is plenty of food. Food can also keep the peace, lack of it could cause a riot. And have family members fighting over turkey and yams. If you are hosting it at your house make sure you know how much too cook for everyone. It is a good idea to have more than less for Thanksgiving. -
Step 3
Amount of guests.
It is also a good idea to know how many people are coming. If you are cooking for 10 people and they bring 5 or 6 guests, that could be a very bad thing. So make sure you find out who is coming and if there will be additional guests. -
Step 4
Be nice.
Even if there is someone in your family that you really just don't get along with. Be nice. Don't spoil the whole Thanksgiving for everyone with a heated argument. Even if it is hard, I'm sure you can put on a smile for at least one day. -
