Baked ziti sicilian style

A definite alternative from traditional baked ziti with red sauce, this baked ziti is gooey and cheesy with a white sauce. Its loaded with bite sized pieces of sausage. We serve it with garlic bread and salad and it is a hearty dinner!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. cooked ziti noodles
  • 1 lb. diced cooked sausage
  • 1 c. shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 c. white shredded cheddar cheese
  • 10oz. ricotta cheese
  1. Step 1
    Oven
    Oven

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2
    Drain pasta
    Drain pasta

    Cooked pasta until tender but slightly undercooked. It will cook further when you bake it. Drain water off and leave pasta in large pot that it was cooked in.

  3. Step 3
    Cooked sausage
    Cooked sausage

    Slice and cook sausage. Stir sausage in with pasta.

  4. Step 4
    Mix with ricotta cheese
    Mix with ricotta cheese

    Mix in ricotta cheese.

  5. Step 5
    Shredded cheeses.
    Shredded cheeses.

    Mix in both shredded cheeses.

  6. Step 6

    Pour mixture into a casserole dish and bake for 35 minutes. Serve piping hot with garlic bread and salad.

Tips & Warnings
  • For guests that would like some tomato flavor, put out a small bowl of tomato sauce for them to spoon onto the top of their pasta as well. Delicious!
