- confidence

Step 1
A great resume is the first step toward that jobBefore you can land an interview at any job, you must apply or send in a resume depending on the job. It is important to impress the employer on paper so that you will get the interview. For a smaller job that only requires an application, make sure to include all jobs as well as community service and accomplishments. The employer wants to see that you are interesting and are devoted to the work you have done. For a larger job requiring a resume, only include information that will impress the employer. There are many ways to set up a resume and it is important to read online articles on styles as well as ways to highlight certain aspects of your professional life.

Step 2
The next step for landing an interview involves making sure your application or resume does not end up at the bottom of a pile in human resources. If you know anyone who works at the company, be sure to include their name in your application or resume and have them put in a good word. Another way to impress the employer is to deliver your application or resume in person and ask for the manager. Make sure you hand it to them personally to make a good impression and they will most likely ask you a few questions and keep your application or resume on top.
-
Step 3
When you land the interview.... research, research, research! You should learn as much as you can about the company you will be interviewing for as well as catching up on world news. Also be sure to look into the attire the employees are wearing at the company. Make sure you dress the part for the interview and the employer will be able to picture you as their employee!
-
Step 4
Being on time is the most important partOne of the most important steps for the interview is to be on time!!!! Allow plenty of time for commuting to the interview so that anything could happen and you will still be on time. Even if you are waiting in your car for fifteen minutes outside the company because you are early, you will be thankful that you were not late. Employers expect you to be on time if not early and it will automatically put bad marks on your resume if you are not.
-
Step 5
During the interview, as nerve racking as it may be, try to stay calm. You will appear much more put together and able to deal with stress if you are able to stay calm. If you have done you research and put on a friendly smile the questions should be a breeze! Do not be afraid to ask questions and come to the interview with those questions prepared so you will not forget. Also, make sure you do not answer with one word answers. Elaborate on each topic so the employer can feel like they know the most they can about you.
