Get the Best Deals Christmas Deals

The Christmas shopping season is upon us. So many deals so little time... If you put a little effort in to it!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start looking at the ad' s in the fall. Some of the best deals start long before black Friday. The toy stores will start publishing coupons for freebies and bonuses now. Start checking the manufacturer's website for additional coupons.

  2. Step 2

Find out the store policies. Lot's of stores will honor their competitors coupons, or price match an advertised price. Sometimes stores will even beat a competitors price by 10%.

  3. Step 3

Visit the customer service desk if needed. Often, around the holidays stores will have an item on sale for only one day, the problem is that they will run out of the item very quickly. The good news is some stores will let you buy the item the day before it goes on sale for full price, then you can come back with your receipt the day of the sale for a price adjustment. I have done this at Kmart on occasion. Just be sure to ask in advance, don't lose the receipt, and remember that you have to come back the day of the sale!

  4. Step 4

If you are shopping early remember to save your receipt and stay organized! If the item goes on sale for a better price later or at a different store you can always return it and repurchase it. Keep a list with you of what you purchased, at what store, and what you paid. That way if you see the somewhere else you can refer back to your notes, see if it's a better deal, and return and repurchase if necessary.

  5. Step 5

Don't forget to shop on line! Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving. Just remember to calculate the shipping costs in with the price of the item. You may have better luck at the stores. Great deals on shipping are hard to find. Usually you have to spend a lot of money to get free shipping.

  6. Step 6

Some people like to use a store "lay a way" program around Christmas but beware. It sounds like a great idea, and they store it for you until just before Christmas, but read their policy carefully. Most of the time they charge an additional fee and usually if the item goes on sale more than 48 hours after you put it on lay a way they will not do a price adjustment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Organization is key.
