Things You'll Need:
- 1 cup Basil leaves
- 5 cloves garlic
- 5 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
- 5 tablespoons pine nuts
- salt and pepper for taste
- 10 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
-
Step 1
Combine basil leaves, garlic, pine nuts, salt and pepper in the food processor and blend them until smooth, then add Parmesan cheese and extra virgin olive oil, mix it well. You can keep this mixture inside refrigerator for up to 5 days.
-
Step 2
You can use roasted garlic and toasted pine nuts instead of raw. To use pesto sauce for pasta, boil pasta until tender or al dente (cooked just enough but not overcook) than add cooked sliced chicken and pesto sauce on the hot pasta and mix them well.
-
Step 3
You can use pesto sauce for grilled pesto sandwich. Grill or toast 2 loafs of bread then add cooked shrimp or cooked chicken, pesto sauce and mixed green in between 2 loafs of grilled/toasted bread.
-
Step 4
Pesto sauce often use as a bread dipping sauce as well. Mix a tea spoon of pesto sauce and add olive oil and fresh ground pepper to use it as a dipping sauce.
-
Step 5
You can use sun-dried tomatoes instead of basil to make sun-dried tomatoes pesto sauce and you can add fresh basil for garnish. It is great for pasta sauce.
