Step 1
Start with seamless, smooth bras and underwear. Avoid half-cup or demi style bras which can look lumpy under clothing.
-
Step 2
Wear a long camisole as your first layer. It's light and doesn't have sleeves, which can feel bulky when doubled or tripled up. It will keep your torso warm, which is most important. You can tuck this layer into your jeans for extra warmth.
-
Step 3
Your layer can be a thin jersey knit top in a v-neck or scoopneck or a button down shirt. Again, go for a longer length because shorter lengths can ride up and feel uncomfortable.
-
Step 4
Next, you can layer a sweater over the jersey knit shirt or button down. When layering, try not to match necklines, such as two v-necks together. It's more slimming to layer a cardigan over a turtleneck or a scoopneck over a collared shirt.
-
Step 5
Choose a jacket that has shaping darts to nip in at the waist and flare out at the bottom. Or, try a trench coat with a belt that cinches at the waist.
