Replace Central Vacuum Inlets
Replace Central Vacuum Inlets

New central vacuum inlets come in a variety of colors and sizes. If you would like to update the look of your old central vacuum inlets, follow these simple steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

First determine what type of inlets you have. Turn off your power at the circuit breaker. Unscrew your inlet and remove it from the wall.

  2. Step 2

If your inlet has only two low voltage wires, then you have a standard inlet.

  3. Step 3

If your inlet has two low voltage wires AND two regular wires, then you have an electric inlet. Now that you know what type of inlets you have, go to your local central vacuum dealer or online to purchase new inlets.

  4. Step 4

Once you have your new inlets, turn off your power, unscrew the old inlets, and attach the new inlets to your existing wires. For electric inlets be sure to match wire colors. White to white and black to black. Now screw your new inlet into the wall and you are good to go.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always turn off the power before you work with electrical inlets
  • Be sure to match wire colors on electrical inlets
