quitting a job is something nearly everyone will have to do sometime in their life. This can be difficult if you don't know how to resign.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer
  • printer
  1. Step 1

To begin with, don't bad mouth the company you are quitting. Instead talk about the positive memories and influence that it had on you.

  2. Step 2

Make sure that you give a significant amount of time before resigning so they have enough time to fill your position. Give at least 2 weeks notice.

  3. Step 3

Be sure to begin with a positive paragraph and don't use any controversial language in the letter.

  4. Step 4

Unfortunately the letter cannot be all positive, so near the middle you should place the news that you are resigning.

  5. Step 5

Finally you should close the letter with another positive paragraph much like the first paragraph.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't spread the news of your departure throughout the office.
  • make sure you are direct and don't beat around the bush.
  • Make sure that your letter of resignation says exactly what you want it to say, because it could likely be put in your personnal file or used in court.
  • Be sure not to offend anyone in your letter, because you may end up needing to work with them again someday.
