After viewing your annual free credit report on FreeCreditReport.com, you will automatically be signed up for credit monitoring. This service incurs a monthly fee of $14.95. However, if you cancel your membership during the 7-day free trial, you won't be charged a dime.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Call 1-888-829-6560 and get connected with a FreeCreditReport.com representative. Kindly tell the rep that you would like to cancel your membership.

  2. Step 2

Hold your ground. You will be pushed to pay for daily monitoring of your Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion credit reports. The rep will try to sell you on identity theft warning e-mails and their $50,000 Triple Advantage Guarantee. Keep saying you still want to cancel.

  3. Step 3

Wait through the sales pitches. Near the end of your conversation, you will be offered a discount. This means it's almost over! You'll have to say "no thank you" at least three times, but in the end, your patience will pay off.

on 1/6/2009 Yeah, I actually signed up for this last night to view mine... I figured it was going to be a hassle to cancel but definitely not worth paying $15 a month! Thanks for the tips and I guess I will be making that call today... :\
