After bursting onto the scene in 2002, the Mazda 6 has established its place as one of the top mid-size sedans on the market. Even though your Mazda 6 probably isn't that old, it still needs routine maintenance. To make sure you're driving your Mazda safely, check and maintain the windshield washer fluid levels.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Funnel
  • Windshield washer fluid
  1. Step 1

Place your Mazda 6 in "Park" and turn off the engine. Apply the parking brake and remove the keys from the ignition for safety.

  2. Step 2

Tug the hood release latch located beneath the dashboard and to the left of the steering column.

  3. Step 3

Hop out of your Mazda 6 and lift the secondary hood release latch beneath the center of the hood to access the engine compartment.

  4. Step 4

Raise the engine prop rod out of its restraining clip and tuck it into the stay-hole on the underside of the hood. Pull gently on the hood to make sure it is firmly in place before continuing.

  5. Step 5

Look for the windshield washer fluid reservoir in the bottom left corner of the engine compartment. It has a tall tube topped with a white plastic cap.

  6. Step 6

Open the reservoir cap and place a funnel into the opening. Pour additional washer fluid into the reservoir until it's full.

  7. Step 7

Remove the funnel, close the reservoir cap and lower the hood.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add fluid with antifreeze protection if you're going to drive your Mazda 6 in freezing temperatures.
