Step 1
Buy milk and chocolate syrup--use semi-sweet or sweet chocolate in place of the syrup. Get hot chocolate mix and make it with milk instead of water. Let your kids help you in the choices; it will encourage them later to drink the milk.
-
Step 2
Select strawberry milk. If your kids don't like chocolate milk, make it strawberry. You can buy it in the store already made or you can make it yourself. Hershey's has a strawberry mix as well as a chocolate mix.
-
Step 3
Try buying goat's milk, lactose free, Silk milk or two percent milk. This will give your kids a variety of tastes and hopefully one of them will be the one that they enjoy. Once you have experimented, you'll know which one to buy in the future, so your kids will drink more milk.
-
Step 4
Give your kids milk to drink. Don't allow a choice. If you don't give them an alternative they will have to drink the milk.
-
Step 5
Heat the milk. If your kids are having trouble sleeping, make them a cup of hot milk. People say a glass of warm milk will help anyone sleep, so pour out a cup of milk and either put it in the microwave for a minute or heat it in a saucepan on your stove.
-
Step 6
Make a fruit drink with the milk. You can add bananas, strawberries, pears or another fruit to the milk to make a fruit drink that your child will enjoy. Using a blender will aid you in this.

on 10/17/2009 Drinking milk is bad for people unless that milk is human breast milk. Cow's milk is intended for baby cows. It increases the chances of athritis, osteoporosis, prostate cancer, breast cancer, heart disease, ovarian cancer, and the list goes on. Tricking your child is to drink milk is doing more harm than good. Sure, it has calcium, but there are other sources like soymilk and viatimin supplements. There are lactose intolerant people in this world and there are doing just fine without it (not to mention vegans.) I encourage you to research this subject on your own some.

on 6/8/2009 also, be careful with supplementing children. iron, for example, is fatal in large doses.

on 6/8/2009 if your child REALLY doesn't like milk, it might not be good to force them. disliking a food can sometimes indicate an allergy, such as lactose intolerance in this case. other alternatives to drinking milk include eating cheese or yogurt, or some vegetables like broccoli or spinach, which have a high calcium content. you also need vit D to absorb calcium, so your child either needs plenty of time in the sun, or needs vit D fortified milk.
