Step 1
Inspect the path. Before you even start your project you need to find out how much sawdust you'll need. A sawdust path would necessitate about a cubic foot of sawdust for every square foot of trail.
-
Step 2
Prepare the path. Erect boundaries on the side of the path that will keep the sawdust on the path and not all over your yard.
-
Step 3
Acquire the sawdust. This task can range from extremely easy to very hard. Often times when people decide to refresh their sawdust in their yard or garden, they simply lay new sawdust over the old. However, sometimes the sawdust just piles up too high and the landowner discards it. A good way to find discarded sawdust is to post an ad on Craigslist, or in your local paper.
-
Step 4
Lay the sawdust. The easiest and most basic way to do this is with a wheelbarrow, some shovels and a couple of good friends. Be generous with the amount of sawdust you use.
-
Step 5
Level the sawdust. You don't want big heaps of sawdust in erratic places. Use a sturdy metal rake to level the path.
-
Step 6
Pack the sawdust. Your recycled sawdust path should be tightly packed so that you don't kick sawdust around.

on 5/1/2009 I know nothing about recycled sawdust. Would it be easily tracked through your house. Your article is well written. Thanks for sharing.
