Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start your business by building an art focused website. Get someone technical to help you out if you don't have the technical skills. Design it in a way where you can show what art pieces and statues you're auctioning off. You can also add an e-shop so customers can buy an art item online.

  2. Step 2

Obtain the art items you want to auction off. Whether they are your own items or you buy the items. Choose famous artistic pieces and painting such as Monet, Salvidor Dali, Piccasso and more. Choose the items you want to sell to your audience and put them in a secluded and clean area in your home.

  3. Step 3

Take high quality photos of each artistic piece and then upload them to your website. Take photos from every angle of the sculpture, statue or painting and make sure the lighting is correct and that there's nothing else cluttering up the picture. You may want to include close up photos to show details.

  4. Step 4

Advertise your auction website by submitting your website address to search engine submittal forms and sites. Some of these companies will submit your site's address for free.

  5. Step 5

Set the prices you want to start at for each artistic piece and allow people to "buy it now" if they want to. Allow people to submit their bids and be in contact with you or the person that is auctioning something.

  6. Step 6

Advertise your website on websites like Craigslist and tell people about your website and what type of items you auction off. You may also join some art forums to advertise as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're not sure what the starting price should be or what the total value of a piece of art, consider finding an appraisal service that can give you an idea of what its worth.
