Step 1
Contact your local school district and see if they offer an online home schooling program. Sometimes they will offer teacher support, too. These programs supply children with a laptop computer for school use, all of their textbooks and other home school supplies, like art resources and science experiment supplies.
-
Step 2
Visit the Internet Home Schooling program's website to learn more about the program. K12 is a popular online home schooling program, and they offer a few practice sessions as part of their training program.
-
Step 3
Consider deeply the reasons for your decision. Many homeschooling families find that adhering to a strict school-ish schedule is impossible, and that the relaxed learning environment that they wanted won't come from an internet home schooling program.
-
Step 4
Interview families who are involved with the program you're considering, to see if they are happy with the situation. You can find support groups for K12, Calvert and other programs on Yahoo Groups. Ask families what their favorite and least favorite features are.
