How to Make a Foil-Embossed Card

If you are like me, you are always on the look-out for a new way of creating handmade cards. This technique uses aluminum foil to create an embossed look. Use your creativity to create an embossed design!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5" Square of Aluminum Foil
  • 5-1/2" x 11" of Card Stock
  • Yarn or Jute
  • Craft Glue
  • Pencil
  • Decorative-Edged Scissors
  1. Step 1
    Gather your supplies.
    Gather your supplies.

    Gather all of your materials. Cut the aluminum foil and card stock according to the dimensions provided here.

  2. Step 2
    Be sure edges are even!
    Be sure edges are even!

    Fold the card stock on half lengthwise, ensuring that you line up the two edges perfectly. You may want to use a ruler to press the crease firmly.

  3. Step 3

    Using the pencil, sketch a design of your choice onto the front of the card.

  4. Step 4
    Add yarn/jute.
    Add yarn/jute.

    Glue the yarn/jute to the sketched design.

  5. Step 5
    Trim the edges of the foil.
    Trim the edges of the foil.

    Trim the sides of the foil square using the decorative-edged scissors. Be careful not to trim too much off from the square.

  6. Step 6

    Apply glue to the card and yarn/jute. Press the foil over the card firmly so that the design of the yarn/jute shows through.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is a great project for kids!
  • This project takes about 30 minutes to complete.
