guide to writing a great blog post.
guide to writing a great blog post.

Solid content is very important in a blog. It not only makes your readers stick around and read, but can help drive traffic to your blog. Good content is important to any blog. You want to engage your readers keep them interested and get them talking.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Access
  • Blog
  • Time To Write
  • A Topic
  1. Step 1

First choose a topic you want to write about. It can be any topic, but it's easier if you write about something you have an interest in and are knowledgeable about.

  2. Step 2

Research your topic. You can use Google to look up different facts about your topic. Take note of anything really interesting. Also, don't forget to jot down where the information came from. You always want to give credit where credit is due.

  3. Step 3

Next search for any pictures you think may complete your blog post. Save these on your computer to upload. You can delete them later if you want. Again if you are using someone else's work make sure to give them credit.

  4. Step 4

Write your post. You want to put everything together now. Remember, you don't want your blog post too short or too long. Keep it between 100-300 words if possible. Most people will get bored and won't read the whole thing if it's too long and if it's too short they may flip to a different blog quickly.

  5. Step 5

Engage your reader. Instead of writing like you are stating facts, write like you are talking to the person who's reading the article. Ask them questions and whenever it's possible end your blog post with a question. This will make more people comment on your blog post.

  6. Step 6

Answer all of your comments. It's nice to post comments on the people's blogs who comment you, but also remember to answer comments on your own blog. You want to get your readers in a conversation about your posts and keep them coming back for more.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are stuck on what to write about. Clear your mind and just write. Write whatever pops into your head and then you can piece it together later. Maybe you'll end of with a post. Maybe you'll end up with bits and pieces of a few posts.
  • Adding pictures and asking questions are a few ways to keep your readers around and coming back for more.
  • There is no right or wrong way to write. Blogs especially are meant to allow you to be creative and write what you want.
  • While it's ok to write about whatever you want, if you are going to write about adult topics make sure your blog is properly classified so kids don't come across it.
  • Remember when you choosing topics this can effect how much money you make from blogging. If you are going to monetize your blog you'll want to choose topics that cover a broader range.
