Things You'll Need:
- Turkey Fryer
- Turkey Rack
- Thermometer
- Oil
- Fresh Turkey

Step 1
Purchase a turkey fryer with a turkey rack and thermometer. Be sure that the kit includes a pot that it at least 26-30 quarts.

Purchase oil to fry the turkey in. Many people prefer peanut oil but this can be expensive. Canola, sunflower, and corn oil are also acceptable.

Determine where you where fry the turkey out. This should always be done outside. Choose an area that is safe and that is clear of anything that is flammable.

Measure how much oil you will need. This can be done by placing the turkey in the fryer and covering with water. You can then measure the amount of water in the pot. This will be the amount of oil that you will be using.

Carefully preheat the oil to a temperature of 400 degrees.

Add turkey to the pot of hot oil using the turkey rack. Be sure to add turkey slowly. Be aware that the oil will splatter.

Cook turkey for 3 to 4 minutes per pound of turkey.

Remove turkey from cooker. Carve and enjoy.
