This is what I love to have for breakfast. It's super healthy and packed with protein, fiber, and carbs. It is very low in fat. This is a healthy choice for the whole family. It takes less than 10 minuets to prepare. And then, you'll want 2nds.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup of Oatmeal (dry)
  • 1/2 Granny Smith Apple (peeled and cored)
  • 1/3 cup of golden or regular raisins
  • 1 cup of non-fat milk
  • 1 small pot
  • 1 bowl
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp of nutmeg
  • 1 packet of Splenda or Equal
  • 1/4 tsp of Vanilla extract
  1. Step 1

First, we will cut our Granny Smith apple in to small bite size cubes.

  2. Step 2

Next, measure the raisins and have them in close reach.

  3. Step 3

Add 1/2 a cup of dry oatmeal into a small pot.

  4. Step 4

Now, add 1 cup of milk to the pot.

  5. Step 5

    Turn the stove on high.

  6. Step 6

As our pot is heating up, we will want to add all of our ingredients while stirring constantly. So, at this this time we will add our raisins, apple, nutmeg, cinnamon, 1 packet of Equal or Splenda, and vanilla extract.

  7. Step 7

Continue to stir for about 3-5 minuets; until we get a thick, pasty type of texture.

  8. Step 8

After about 3 minuets, turn off the fire.

  9. Step 9

Carefully, pour the oatmeal into a bowl and allow to cool for 3-5 minuets. You may add and stir in a few tablespoons of cold milk to help the cooling process.

  10. Step 10

    Grab a spoon and Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • If, at anytime, it seems to be cooking too fast for you, you can always lower the heat to medium.
  • If you like your oatmeal thinner, you may add more milk or water if you choose.
  • This is a great meal for anytime of day.
  • If you would like it sweeter, try adding more raisins or fruit instead of sugar.
  • Never leave an item that you are cooking unattended.
  • Always use caution while your are in the kitchen and/or cooking.

on 11/3/2008 Thank you. I have to fight with myself not to eat this more than once a day. It is very good, I'm glad I could share it. Eating healthy doesn't have to be boring at all.
