Things You'll Need:
- leaf patterns
- pumpkins, seasonal squash, indian corn, apples
- fabric glue
- fall fabric
- construction paper
- iron
- baskets (optional)
-
Step 1
Visit your local fabric store and select a fall pattern fabric. Make a simple runner for your table using fabric glue and an iron. Fold over the edges of the fabric and iron them under. Glue the folds to make finished edges. No need to sew and costs less than any store-bought runner or tablecloth.
-
Step 2
Cut leaves from red, orange, green, and yellow fabric or use construction paper. Leaves of all sizes and patterns can make great splashy decor and can be a fun project for kids. Leaf patterns can also be found online.
-
Step 3
Choose large leaves from your garden and dry or laminate them. Sprinkle them on tables around your space.
-
Step 4
Check out your grocery store for small pumpkins, squashes, indian corn, and apples that are in season. They make great decorations that last weeks if uncut. Group them together or place in decorative baskets-cornucopeia shaped or regular.
-
Step 5
Pilgrim Hats from fabric or construction paper can also make adorable decorations for walls, tables or the tops of wine bottles.
-
Step 6
Think about the colors of fall when choosing flower arrangements. The more yellow, orange, red and green you can insert into your space, the better.
-
Step 7
Wrap throw pillows in fall fabric and join together with a safety pin. This makes your throws "temporarily" festive without commitment. Just place the square throw in the middle of a large square yard of fabric. wrap corner over corner and secure with pin.
-
Step 8
Add fall colored candles to your decor to give your space the aroma of the season. Think pumpkin spice and cranberry. Mmmmmm!
