Cleaning your hair brush is as important as washing your hair. Many people do not realize how many germs actually buid up on a dirty brush. They are deposited back into your clean hair. This step by step will explain to you the proper way to sanitize all of your brushes so that you can maintain clean and healthy scalp and hair

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dirty brushes and combs
  • Large sink or pan for soaking
  • Hot water
  • Dish soap
  • Household bleach
  • Towels for allowing your brushes to dry
  • Scrub brush (a fingernail brush works well)
  • Tongs or Gloves
  1. Step 1

    First clean all hair and debris from your brushes

  2. Step 2

    Next fill sink or pan with hot soapy water and place brushes and combs in water. Let soak for 10 min.

  3. Step 3

    Scrub each brush and then rinse clean and place on towel.

  4. Step 4

    Empty and rinse sink/pan and fill with warm water and 1/2 cup of bleach. Soak brushes for 20 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Using tongs or a gloved hand to remove brushes and rinse very well. Place brushes on towel and allow to dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remove all hair from your brushes after each use to help keep them clean.
  • Clean your brushes at least once a month to maintain a sanitary environment.
  • Never place wet or damp brushes in a box or drawer. Dark and damp is what breeds germs
  • Always use extreme caution when working with bleach
  • Never allow bleach to touch your skin
  • Be careful when pouring bleach so you do not splash it on your clothing or skin
  • Always wear gloves or use tongs to remove brushes
  • Be very careful to rinse your brushes to remove all the bleach water
