Have a lot of stuff and want to have a yard sale but you dont have a yard? Here are some tips for city folks or folks who just dont have a yard.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lots of junk to sell, remember the saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure.
  1. Step 1

Ok, who say's you have to have a yard to have a yard sale, all you need is put all your old junk together and get it ready to sell. Put price tag's on everything with the price you are asking. Now Im originally from New York City, Brooklyn to be exact so during the warm months we would have what we city dwellers would call a "stoop sale". We would set up tables in the small court entrance to our building "of course get permission from your land lord first". And we would put up flyers in all the supermarkets bulletin boards a day before with date and time and location. And often we would have the sale for several days on Saturday and Sunday. We would make quite a bit of money mostly with old books.

  2. Step 2

Then We moved to the country in 05' but to a townhouse community where the home owner association does not allow yard sales. So what we did was set up our "outdoor shop" just outside the entrance to the community. And we called it a "roadside sale". And we did the same thing with the flyers at the supermarkets but we also set up removable signs up the road a ways so motorest's would know they are approaching a sale. This time though besides books and other junk, my wife began to make her own homemade jewellery, nothing fancy but it became a big seller.

  3. Step 3

Ok, so you dont have a yard and no area outside your building and no road area that is permitted by the county or local police, have it in a garage or if no garage you can have an indoor "open house sale". Clear out the room that has the entrance to you house or apartment and set up your tables there, now again put up signs in the local supermarket's and sometimes laundry mats have community bulletin boards, you can even find bulletin boards on the internet like craigslist. This method is also good even if you do have a yard but want to have it in the winter, simply make it an indoor sale. I hope this helps some of you who never had a way to sell your old stuff simply because you didn't have a yard. Good luck and happy selling!

Tips & Warnings
  • What to sell? Anything you can think of that is just cluttering up the house, you would be surprised what people will be willing to buy. Books is #1, old toy's, nic'nac's, old cloths, collectable' s such as old coins & stamps, plates/cups/glasses, old kitchen utensils, old video & audio tapes, records & record players. I even sold an old ripped hat, had a rip right down the center on the top and I had it in a box of "junk" that we put out during a sale and this guy just asked "How much"? I made 50 cents!
  • If you have an open house sale, make sure you close off the areas where you dont want people to go, or have a friend and or relative with you to act as "security" you dont want strangers walking all over your house. Unless your selling the house!
