Instructions

    • 1

      Get a pot.
I used a regular 6 qt cooking pot for my soup.
Add the salt, black pepper, and the bacon.

    • 2

Add 2 tablespoons of garlic powder or chop fresh garlic. Add the sprigs of cilantro.

    • 3

Open the tomatoes, and put the whole jar in, including the tomato juice. If you didn't home can, you may need to use store bought, or fresh tomatoes.

    • 4

Cut your potatoes in quarters. If using new potatoes, you can wash, scrub and quarter. Older potatoes will have to be peeled.

    • 5

      Peel and chop your onions.

    • 6

      Wash and strip your celery.

    • 7

The bacon does not take as long as the potatoes to cook, so you will need to cook until the potatoes are done. Serve with crackers, your favorite sandwich, or bread and butter. Either way, you have a great soup.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make a stew by adding more vegetables.

  • Make a beef stew, simply add your left over roast beef, and more veggies.

  • Use these same veggies around a meatloaf.

  • Just cook the soup until the potatoes are done. If cooked too long, you will not get the same flavor.

You would need to cook until the potatoes are done. I usually cook my soup around 30 - 40 minutes. The potatoes take the longest to cook, so just check your potatoes with a fork, if tender, your soup is done. You can add the ingredients in any order you choose. I listed them in the description as i added them to my soup.
