In most homes, Christmas is not the same without Christmas lights. Hanging these lights should be fun and exciting, while remaining safe.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Check the lights. The first thing to do is, to check whether the strands of light are in good working order. Subsequently, connect the extension cord to a 120-volt power outlet.

  2. Step 2

Mark the location. Next, measure the strands and mark the spots where the lights will hang on the exterior of the home. A sturdy ladder will help prevent you from falling, as you mark the home.

  3. Step 3

Connect the strands of lights. Make sure to connect all strands of lights together before climbing the ladder. A helper should always be present on the ground for both safety purposes and to feed the light strand to the hanger.

  4. Step 4

Hang the lights. The lights can now be attached to the markings made on the house. The lights should be secured with light clips.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never hang lights with nails. The nail may damage the light strand and cause a fire.
