Some people really don't like the taste of alcohol, though they might want the effect of a drink or two. Cocktails like Martinis are pure alcohol and it's hard to disguise the taste, but there are plenty of drinks available that you wouldn't know had alcohol in them. When browsing the cocktail menu, be sure to review the ingredients listed alongside each drink and note which are more mixers and other ingredients than higher numbers of liquors.

1. Pina Coladas

Pina Coladas are a tropical drink. The main alcohol in a Pina Colada is white rum. Mixing crushed ice with white rum and adding coconut cream and pineapple completely disguises the taste of the rum. Many bars and restaurants use a packaged Pina Colada mix that is poured into the blender with the ice and rum. Typically garnished with cherries for added flavor, it's a sweet and fruity cocktail that conceals the taste of rum.

2. Sex on the Beach

Sex on the Beach is a popular drink with younger crowds. The base alcohol in this tasty, sweet cocktail is vodka. Adding peach schnapps, which is a peach-flavored liqueur, cranberry juice and orange juice masks the taste of the vodka. There are many variations on this drink, some which include grenadine, which is a sweet, red syrup used in cocktails to add color and flavor. A Creamy Sex on the Beach has whipped cream to sweeten it even more.

3. White Russian

A White Russian is made with vodka mixed with coffee liqueur and cream, typically served over ice. There are variations on this drink, too. Instead of coffee liqueur and cream, you can add Bailey's Irish Cream and milk, making it even sweeter and creamier. Adding flavored liqueur to vodka helps disguise the alcohol taste, and there are many flavored liqueurs on the market.

4. Strawberry Margarita

Tequila is the main alcohol in all Margaritas, but Strawberry Margaritas do a good job at concealing the taste of the tequila. Some bars and restaurant use a pre-made mix and just add the tequila. But if you want to make it with all the ingredients, you would add a splash of triple sec, which is an orange flavored liqueur, fresh or frozen strawberries and some lime juice. Put these ingredients in a blender with crushed ice and enjoy the sweet strawberry flavor.

5. 100 Mile Blueberry Cocktail

To step away from more traditional sugary cocktails, this fruit-forward mixed drink is an elegant alternative to a martini. The only alcohol in this drink is one and a half ounces of vodka, which is smooth if a high quality vodka is used. The juice of muddled, fresh blueberries, cane sugar and a dash of vanilla mask the flavor of the vodka with the sugar and aromatics of the vanilla. Try adding a few muddled blueberries to the bottom of the glass before pouring the drink in from the shaker, or even a few dried blueberries that have been rehydrated.

6. Chardonnay Slushies

For an alternative to mixed drinks made with hard liquor, try making these chardonnay slushies. Charddonay is a mild, slightly sweet white wine that is quite drinkable as it is not too dry. Each slushie only has three ounces of the white wine. The rest is frozen lemonade concentrate, peach puree and green apple puree which all help to mask the flavor of the white wine. The alcohol is also more likely to go unnoticed because this is a frozen drink, which helps the alcohol to taste smoother when drinking it. A similar frozen slushie red wine sangria could be made using frozen mixed berry smoothie mix, red apple puree and blended with frozen red grapes.
