Educational video games can help you teach your kindergartner how to read. In fact, some reading games are easy enough for toddlers. That's right, even a toddler can learn to read using computer games.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • touch screen computer monitor (nice touch, but not really mandatory)
  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

Download Robot Reader games. They have a variety of activities and learning games that are designed for pre-readers to understand and enjoy without too much adult intervention.

  2. Step 2

Visit Starfall.com and go through the phonics activities for learning to read. Starfall offers video games, coloring activities, games and even free printable certificates of completion.

  3. Step 3

Provide plenty of real-life reading opportunities for your child. For example, Bob Books are easy readers written almost entirely with three letter words.

  4. Step 4

Supplement with "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Lessons" It's a book that gives a script for parents to engage in learning-to-read conversations with their children. While some of the scripts are repetitive, children really seem to enjoy the word games and being able to read sentences and then stories.
