Step 1
Call the company's customer service line.
Be civil, if you are nasty or hot headed it will not only make you look bad, but they'll know you probably won't come back anyway so they won't try very hard to accommodate you. -
Step 2
Always get first and last names. If they are uncomfortable giving out their last name, ask for an employee ID#.
Be sure to also ask the rep for their direct call back number or extension. -
Step 3
Always state how long you've been a loyal customer.
Be prepared by having receipts, dates, contracts, etc, on hand & readily available to be able to reference. -
Step 4
If you feel that you are not getting results by talking with the rep that you are speaking with, then ask for a supervisor.
If you're still unable to get results, you should send a letter to the company's top seniority staff.
Look on their website for names. -
Step 5
As a last resort, and if you are absolutely not getting any productive results, you can advise the company that you'll be reporting them to the BBB (Better Business Bureau)
You might not get results with this statement, but you can try.

on 5/4/2009 I have made many complaints and I do find that you get much better results when you are calm and polite. Though sometimes that isn't always possible for me!
