Things You'll Need:
- Loose Filter Fiber
- Crystal Clear tank treatment
-
Step 1
First you are going to want to remove any filter items you have in place, carbon, charcoal, standard filters.
-
Step 2
Pack the empty space about half full of the loose fiber media.
-
Step 3
The best item ever (I have tried them ALL!) is a brand name item, you can find it at almost any pet store. It is very well priced and is called Crystal Clear. It has a yellow blister pack and is generally hung on the wall.
-
Step 4
Follow the directions for how many gallons your tank is, put the drops in and wait a couple hours. This is safe for fish (that you do not intend to eat) and plants.
-
Step 5
If it has not cleared considerably in just a few hours, remove the fiber, replace, and treat again. Unless the tank is REALLY bad, you should not need to do that more than once. I had a tank in a window (I know, big no-no) and this was the way to go for me!
