Being a good student takes a lot of things, but to be a good student one will always have to perservere. There are always going to be times when you get knocked down (figuratively), and you have to get back up again. You have to be able to fight through the down times and look at the long term picture.

Prioritize your work. This is especially important when it comes to the end of a semester or quarter and the workload becomes heavier. A good student will sit down and look at all the work they have left to work on and make a list of which should be done first.

Keep those eyes and ears wide open!

Listen well during class. This means you have to pay attention to everything the teacher says. Keep your attention span on them or you might miss something really important. Take notes while you are listening, even if the teacher doesn't say you have to.

Start preparing for your tests ahead of time and don't procrastinate. Waiting until the night before the exam to start studying is a great way to be unprepared. Cramming doesn't work well, but studying in increments for several days is perfect.

      Have all your books!

Come to class prepared! Being prepared for class covers quite a few different things. First of all you need to have all the supplies necessary to learn (books, pencils, paper, etc). Secondly, you need to come to class ready to learn. Come in the right frame of mind or you'll never get anything out of it. Thirdly, come to class after a good night of rest and relaxation. Don't let your schoolwork make you so tired that you can't focus the next day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be prepared every single day. Make it a point to train yourself to think of how important this schooling is to your future.

  • Don't be chatting or playing games on your calculator or cell phone while the teacher is teaching.
