Do you think you have to have a lot of money to be happy or to enjoy life? People in other countries with 1/4 of the material goods we have, usually are stress free and satisfied with life. If you would like to be content with what you have, follow these few steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Optimistic attitude
  • Ability to appreciate what we do have.
  • Ability to simplify
  1. Step 1

The first way to start being happy or content is to give up perfectionism. No one and nothing is perfect. Enjoy the moment and forget about being perfect.

  2. Step 2

Get outside. Nature has a way of calming us down and bringing out our positive nature. Take deep breaths. Walk for 15 minutes. Enjoy the sunshine. Take time to watch the sunset. Take time to actually see the stars at night. Enjoying nature is priceless.

  3. Step 3

Stop thinking about only yourself. Volunteer at a school, a church, a homeless shelter or another charity. Give of yourself. Thinking of someone else and doing something for someone is a sure way of gaining some contentment or happiness.

  4. Step 4

Do something with your family. Go on a picnic. Go apple picking or go to the farmer's market together. Stay away from the malls! Go walking, hiking or bicycle riding together. Turn off the TV. Only watch videos or DVRs. Try for two or three days not to see any commercials.

  5. Step 5

Take time to invite friends, family or neighbors for a cookout or potluck. Quit saying "lets get together" and finally pick up the phone and schedule time with those you love. Happiness doesn't come from what we have but who we can share love.
