There are many recipes for oatmeal on the Internet because it is a much beloved breakfast meal. People love oatmeal because of the health benefits, the quick cooking time, and most of all -- the sweet and hearty taste. The following oatmeal recipe is guaranteed to be one of the best ever.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Quick Oats
  • Water
  • Salt
  • La Lechera
  • Butter or Margerine
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk
  1. Step 1

This recipe for oatmeal will yield 1 serving, just enough for you to try it out the first time. If you like it you can make up a batch of oatmeal for the entire family.

First, you will boil 1 cup of water, add a pinch of salt, and then stir in a little more than 1/2 cup of rolled oats. Choose the one minute or quick variety.

  2. Step 2

Let your oats cook for approximately one minute and be sure to stir frequently while the oatmeal is cooking. It is very easy to burn oatmeal, so make sure that you don't leave it while it is cooking. Also, it is just as easy for the oats to boil over - take heed.

  3. Step 3

Pour your oatmeal into a bowl, and top it with La Lechera, butter, and a tablespoon or so of evaporated milk. That's it. That's all. This method will make your oatmeal more appealing because it turns it into a warm, sweet and creamy treat. You will not find an easier or more unique oatmeal recipe anywhere else.

Tips & Warnings
  • La Lechera is a milk product in itself, so you don't necessarily have to add condensed milk. It just makes the dish a little creamier.
  • This process can be duplicated with Cream of Wheat
  • You can add sliced bananas to your oatmeal for a twist

on 1/29/2009 Thanks for another great recipe. I have never heard of La Lechera and don't believe they sell this in my area. I am in the Seattle area so all we have here is coffee and salmon. (Not together, of course).
