How to Create a Group in iChat

The latest version of Apple's Mac OS X operating system and all new Mac computers come with an updated release of the iChat messaging software. With iChat, Apple users can set up and use either an AOL Instant Messenger or MobileMe account and then add new buddies with whom to chat. In addition, users can organize their contacts into different groups and rearrange them at any time.

Things You'll Need

• Mac running OS X 10.5 or later, iChat software

Instructions

1. Open the iChat program by clicking on the icon in the dock.

2. Click the plus sign in the lower-left corner of the main "Buddy List" window.

3. Select "Add Group" from the drop-down menu.

4. Enter a name for the new group you wish to create in the pop-up window. Click "Add" when you are satisfied, and the new group will appear in your Buddy List.

5. Drag and drop contacts from your Buddy List into your newly created group's title to assign them to the new group.
