Keep track of the pH levels of your body to help yourself make the necessary adjustment to fight disease--blood and urine levels let you know how hard your kidneys are having to work. Also check the pH levels in your pool or aquariums to keep bacteria and corrosion down. Use the tips in this guide to find pH paper and use it to gauge the acidity of different things.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy pH paper online. Sites like VWRlabshop.com and Microessentiallab.com offer secure online purchases of pH paper along with other labs supplies. Browse through the sites to find some paper and use a credit or debit card to make a quick and secure purchase--these sites use encryption services like Verisign to keep your sensitive information safe.

  2. Step 2

Purchase strips of pH paper from your local pool supply store. Because of general range of pH levels in pool, testing strip purchased from pool stores often don't carry a range wide enough for use outside of pools.

  3. Step 3

Visit a nearby research university. Make a request in person for a small amount of the paper. Look elsewhere for large amounts of pH paper--smaller requests increase the likelihood of the laboratory giving/selling some paper to you.
