Step 1
If you are intentionally making yourself more pale, stop doing so. Pick a natural-looking tone. That doesn't mean you need to run out and get a tan. You just need to pick something more realistic.
-
Step 2
Pick a feature. You do not have to totally give up dark makeup. You just have to choose the feature to highlight with it. Pick either your eyes or your lips. If you have striking eyes, go with them. If you favor your lips, then pick them. Basically, pick the feature you want to draw attention to. You do not want to put dark colors on both your eyes and lips. This is too severe for most workplaces.

Step 3
If you decided to emphasize your eyes, go with a dark eyeliner. Keep the liner thin and close to the shape of the eye. Pick colors that will give you a nice, smoky eye. These colors are black, gray and jewel tones. Steer away from bright, vibrant colors and shades infused with lots of shimmer and glitter. Apply the shadow only to the lid. Do not put the color on or above the brow line. Use black mascara to finish the look. Put a clear or light-colored gloss on your lips. This will let you keep some of the darkness you love, draw attention to your eyes and keep you well with in the bounds of the dress code.
-
Step 4
If you elected to play up your lips, pick a nice dark red, brown or purple shade. Choose a black or brown eyeliner. Keep the line around your eyes thin and light. Pick a light or neutral shade for the lid. Use brown or black mascara to complete the look.

Step 5
When it comes to your cheeks, pick blush in a color that complements your skin tone. Do not opt for anything too bright, or anything that would wash you out. Apply the blush conservatively across your cheekbones.
