How to Find Articles on Forensic Accounting

Forensic accounting, also called investigative accounting or forensic auditing, is a specialized branch of accounting that deals with acquiring evidence that is admissible in court. This specially trained accountant investigates financial statements of companies and individuals for audits, fraud and taxation purposes. There are many places online and in print to learn about forensic accounting.

      Read magazines and journals for forensic accountants. One monthly magazine is "Forensic Accountant." There is also the "Journal of Forensic Accounting." Both publications provide many useful articles relating to the field.

      Join forensic accounting associations, which offer articles, case studies and other materials. Some associations have articles on their websites that are available to the public, although most require a paid membership to access most of the site. One organization is the Forensic Accountants Society of North America, which is a journal for members only. The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners deals with business fraud. The American College of Forensic Examiners also has a bimonthly journal.

      Check out the websites of accounting firms. Many accounting firms offer articles on their websites to educate the public and potential clients about what the firm does. This is especially true of large firms. The Forensic Update is a monthly newsletter of the accounting firm PKF.
