Create a Christmas Bulletin Board

The Christmas season is fast approaching, and there's no better way to get your students in the holiday spirit than by decorating your classroom's bulletin boards. Students of all ages will get excited about the season when you start bringing Christmas decorations into the classroom. All you need are a few simple art supplies and a little imagination for your students to turn your classroom into a winter wonderland filled with Christmas magic.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Light blue butcher paper Staples Pre-cut snowflake shapes Gold glitter Silver glitter Glue ¼ cup coarse salt 3 cups washable white paint Cookie shapes Colored sugar Glue Paper plates Pre-cut letters Gold butcher paper Green construction paper Red construction paper Safety scissors Yellow construction paper Green Christmas garland Christmas tree cutouts Menorah cutouts Kwanzaa basket cutouts Santa Claus printouts Star printouts Dreidel printouts Crayons Markers Purple butcher paper Pre-cut gold letters Plastic Santa Claus face Construction paper in assorted colors Confetti Scissors Paste Washable markers
  1. Step 1

Create a winter wonderland. Cover one of the bulletin boards in your classroom with light blue butcher paper and staple into place. Give each child a pre-cut snowflake shape, gold and silver glitter, and glue to decorate the snowflake. After the glue has dried, write the children's name on their snowflake and attach them to the bulletin board.

  2. Step 2

Add ¼ cup of coarse salt to 3 cups of washable white paint and set aside. Cut enough cookie shapes out of brown construction paper for each child to have three cookies. Have the children paint the cookie shapes with the white paint. Then sprinkle colored sugar onto the paint. Once the paint has dried have them glue the cookies to a paper plate. Attach pre-cut letters to the bulletin board that say "Have a Yummy Holiday" and add the paper plates to the bulletin board.

  3. Step 3

Cover the bulletin board with gold butcher paper. Trace each child's hand on a piece of green and red construction paper. Give each child a pair of safety scissors and instruct them to cut out their hand tracings. Have them arrange and glue the hands on a paper plate to form a Christmas flower. Cut a small circle out of yellow construction paper and glue in the center of the flower. Add the Christmas flowers to the bulletin board. Trim the bulletin board with green Christmas garland.

  4. Step 4

Purchase store bought cutouts of Christmas trees, Menorahs and Kwanzaa baskets at a school supply store. Print out Pictures of Santa Claus, stars and dreidels for the students to color with crayons or markers. Glue the items to a bulletin board that has been covered with purple butcher paper and affix pre-cut gold letters to the board that say "Celebrating Holidays around the World."

  5. Step 5

Attach a large plastic Santa Claus face in the center of the bulletin board. Provide the children with construction paper, confetti, purple and green glitter, scissors, paste and washable markers to create Christmas tree ornaments and presents. Paste them around Santa's face to create a festive Christmas bulletin board.
