How to Use Banana Peels in "Mario Kart Wii"

"Mario Kart Wii" is made especially exciting due to the abundance of power-up items scattered throughout every track. As you drive over a question mark block, you'll be awarded a randomly chosen weapon or power-up. Single and triple packs of banana peels are generally considered to be some of the weakest power-ups you can get, but if you use them just right, you can set effective traps and even defend yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch any type of race or battle event that involves other racers.

    • 2

Drive around the track, running over any question mark blocks you come across, until you're awarded a banana peel power-up.

    • 3

Press and hold down on the "D" pad if you pick up a single banana peel. This will allow you to drag it behind you for as long as you hold down the down button. If someone fires a shell at you from behind, the shell will hit the banana peel and not your vehicle. You'll lose the peel, but you won't spin out.

    • 4

Press down on the "D" pad only once if you pick up a triple banana peel. This will make all three peels trail you automatically, and they offer the same protective properties as the single banana peel, only with three times the protection.

    • 5

Launch a banana peel far in front of you by tapping up on the "D" pad. This can be an effective attack if you are about ten car lengths behind an opponent driving directly in front of you.

    • 6

Drop banana peels in your wake by tapping down on the "D" pad. This is most effective when there's someone right on your tail.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you drag one or more banana peels behind you, it frees up space for you to pick up another power-up--even if you haven't yet jettisoned the banana peels.
