The single Lancashire roll is a part of the Lancashire clog, which originated in Lancashire, England. The story is that the factory workers began wearing certain types of shoes, called clogs, to keep warm. When the workers had a break, they would dance on the cobblestone streets in an effort to keep warm. That eventually turned into a clogging competition among the workers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tap shoes
  1. Step 1

Brush your right foot to the back (back brush.)

  2. Step 2

    Drop the left heel.

  3. Step 3

Step down on your right and drop your right heel.

  4. Step 4

Drop the left heel. (When you step down on your right foot and drop your right heel, your weight is on the right foot so you must lift up your left heel in order to drop it.)

  5. Step 5

Think about the steps to the single Lancashire roll: back brush, heel drop, step, heel drop, heel drop. The count is "a 1 and a 2."

Tips & Warnings
  • When you drop your left heel, you are transferring your weight to the left foot so you are free to repeat the combination beginning on your right foot.
