The toe tap standard break in tap-dancing is yet another break that can be used after a time step. The "break" indicates the ending of a series of steps, generally a time-step combination, but not necessarily.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tap shoes
  1. Step 1

Do a right shuffle and then hop left.

  2. Step 2

Jab your right toe to the back and then step down on your right.

  3. Step 3

    Shuffle left and step left.

  4. Step 4

    Shuffle right and step right.

  5. Step 5

Shuffle left and ball change (left, right).

  6. Step 6

Remember that a shuffle is a front and back brush on the ball of your foot. A ball change is a step step that requires transference of weight from the "ball" foot to the "change" foot.

  7. Step 7

Put the steps together for the toe tap standard break: shuffle hop toe jab step, shuffle step, shuffle step, shuffle ball change. Consider the count: "8 and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7."
